More purchases....

....whoops. I'm supposed to be saving money....!

I frequent a forum (BCF, in my links) that has a monthly reading "group" - as part of March's discussion, we are talking about A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, which was voted in by the members. I ordered it from Green Met the other day and it should hopefully arrive today, for me to start. I've nearly finished "The Stranger Beside Me" and have put down "Angels and Demons" to embark on the aforementioned book =)

I also picked up The Secret Garden and A Stir of Echoes, the film adapatation of which I saw last week.

I also joined IRC this week; my ex used to use it extensively when we were together (a gamer channel, of course!) and my best friend Nick also participates. I tried to find a book channel, found one on DALnet but it's not very active. I was wondering if any IRC'ers knew of any active and lively book channels? I've joined a channel totally unrelated to books, which is good fun already! BCF has a chatroom linked to IRC, but doesn't seem to be too active unless I'm going in at the wrong times :wails:

We had a very busy day yesterday, which was good (and bad) in some ways. Firstly I had my hair cut. Back in 2007 I had a fringe, and was single. A guy I went on a date with (who, in fact, was really nice) said he disliked the fringe so I grew it out. Yesterday whilst I was in the lift, I decided I liked it, and was going to have it done, so I did! I like it, Rob likes it, and the hairdresser liked it, so all is well.

We also went to view a house that comes up for rent in May - bigger, brighter and more space to do what we want (like escape with a book). It was a lovely property but unfortunately a couple had been to see it the day before and managed in the half an hour that we went to discuss it, to put money down for it :curses: Rotten luck there! But at least we know we didn't rush into it, and gives us a chance to chart our incomings and outgoings.

Anyway, I have a mission on my hands today; tidy the flat, so I best scoot along!
